]]> The Florida Department of Veterans’ Affairs operates eight skilled nursing facilities and one assisted living facility. All facilities are licensed by the Agency for Health Care Administration and inspected annually by AHCA and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. The homes are supervised round the clock by registered and licensed nurses.

Resident Admission: Basic admission requirements for all state veterans’ homes include an honorable discharge, state residency prior to admission, and certification of need of assisted living or skilled nursing care as determined by a VA physician. A resident application package for each facility is available for view and downloading below. Eligible spouses are also able to be admitted. For specific questions regarding admissions, please contact the Admissions Coordinator at the numbers listed below.

]]> Description: Marion Senior Services is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the independence and well-being of older adults and individuals with disabilities throughout Marion County. Established in the 1970s, the agency provides comprehensive in-home support, case management, caregiver assistance, and transportation services that help seniors remain independent and avoid institutional care.

As the designated Community Transportation Coordinator for Marion County, Marion Senior Services operates public paratransit and ADA-accessible transportation in partnership with the Florida Department of Transportation, the Commission for the Transportation Disadvantaged, and SunTran.

]]> Ocala SSVF provides temporary and supportive services for Veterans and Veteran families with low or no income. The goal of the program is to promote housing stability through assistance and support services to homeless persons or those at risk of homelessness.

Qualifications for this Program

  • Must be a Veteran who was discharged under conditions other than dishonorable.
  • Must be homeless or in danger of becoming homeless
  • Meet income guidelines where individuals/households earn no more than 50% Area Median Income.

Services Provided

  • Case Management
  • Rental and security deposit assistance
  • Utility deposit and payment assistance
  • Assistance with applying for Veterans Affairs and other mainstream benefits
  • Assistance with budgeting

]]> 1. Supportive Services for Veteran Families provides temporary and supportive services for Veterans and Veteran families with low or no income. The goal of the program is to promote housing stability through assistance and support services to homeless persons or those at risk of homelessness. Services provided include: Housing Navigation: Housing search and identification to quickly move Veteran households into permanent housing. Temporary Financial Assistance, Case Management, Resource Connections, and Crisis Resolution.

2. Ocala Ritz Veterans Village provides clinical treatment, transitional housing, and individualized case management for Veterans experiencing homelessness in Marion County, Florida. The program is designed to help Veterans stabilize, rebuild their lives, and prepare for independent living through safe housing, structured support, and access to therapeutic services.

3. Volunteers of America of Florida Affordable Housing Apartments provide affordable housing to low-income families. Tenants are able to stay in the program indefinitely if eligible and needed.
